The year is 1989 Back to the Future II release and it’s a hit cult classical. Most sneaker people remember only one thing in the movie. It’s Michael J. Fox's character Marty McFly put the Nike Mag. When he place them on his feet the shoe would auto-lace, wrapping around his feet with a little help of movie magic. This film is from 1989, set in the future of 2015 the movie predicted some things to happen that was pretty on the nose like gaming consoles, tv, weather reports, and video calls, and some prediction was off like old money, Jaws 19, and abolishment of lawyers. Granit, the concept of the old version of money and sequels and spin-offs of movies in the franchise has happened just not Jaws 19.

Nike called for someone to design a shoe for the movie and the up incoming sneaker designer Tinker Hatfield answered the call, especially since he was coming off the success of the Jordan brand silhouettes like the Jordan 3 and 4 at the time. Meanwhile, takes nearly 30 years for the shoe to be made precisely like they were in the movie. Better late than never.
In the movie, Marty McFly travels to the year October 15, 2015, and it was exacted that Nike had plans to come when that date came around. A lot of people would assume that Nike would release a version of the Mags for the customer. When nothing started to show people begin to worry. Tinker wrote Michael J. Fox a letter letting him the shoe was real and would be made to be released. Michael would show off the Nike Mag on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Nike raffle off the shoes to the public allowing people to potentially win to purchase the shoe. Nike would request the public to donate $10 to receive a raffle ticket. With all proceeds go to Michael J. Fox Foundation to help fight Parkinson's disease. The brand has only made 89 pairs, to commemorate the year the film came out (1989). The shoes only come in a few sizes, 7, 9, 11, and 13. Most of the time people would use them as display pieces but you are fully welcome to wear them as they are functional shoes people can wear with working auto-lacing and lights. Good luck finding one for sale because the resale is a little crazy. StockX has them at a low price of $105,000. Heavy penny for nostalgia.
